Programs Under the Commission’s Healthy Children Initiative

The Children and Families Commission of Orange County's has invested in a broad array of health care services from the prenatal stage to age five to create and enhance the network of health services. The Commission’s Healthy Children programs boost the overall physical, social, emotional and intellectual health of children during the prenatal period through age five.

Bridges Maternal Child Health Network

The Bridges Maternal Child Health Network partners with birthing hospitals, home visitation providers, and public health nurses to provide an intensive services to support maternal and child health outcomes including prenatal care, breastfeeding, the use of a regular place for healthcare, and appropriate immunizations.

School Readiness Nursing

The School Readiness Nursing program has supported school nurse positions at every participating elementary school district in Orange County since 2005. As a result, thousands of young children receive comprehensive health screenings including immunizations, developmental milestones, hearing, vision,  and dental health prior to their first day in school.

Pediatric Health Service

The Pediatric Health Service program is a partnership with CHOC Children's Hospital and UC Irvine Medical Center to increase access to pediatric primary and specialty care services including asthma, pediatric primary care, and neurodevelopmental concerns.

Children's Dental Health

Children's Dental Health is a partnership with Healthy Smiles for Kids of Orange County and five community clinics to increase access, and pediatric dental care and prevention programs.
